Rochester's Healthy Home
On Saturday, August 5, a community barbeque was
held at Rochester’s Healthy Home, located at 700
West Main Street. Nearly 70 attendees toured the
Healthy Home and learned about different hazards
that can be present in a home, including lead and
mold, and how to safely address them.

The Healthy Home Project was started by the
South
West Area Neighborhood Association, Inc., (SWAN),
the Rochester Fatherhood Resource Initiative (RFRI),
the University of Rochester Medical Center’s
Environmental Health Sciences Center Community
Outreach and Education Program, Community Roundtable
and New School Vision, Inc. The purpose of the home
is to serve as a community link among Sector 4
neighborhood groups, a resource to the community for
information on maintaining a healthy home, and a
place where members of the community receive
referrals, training and materials in order to become
self-reliant in maintaining their own healthy homes.
