Betty Lawrence

Ms. Lawrence oversees the activities at all 10 city
branch libraries. Despite budget constraints, Betty has
continued to have the branch libraries operate at an
impressive level. She listens to the concerns of the
neighborhoods and she and her staff are committed to
providing quality library services that meet the individual
needs of the neighborhood in which the branch is located.
That dedication makes the branch libraries valuable assets
to the city’s many neighborhoods.
The Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning
The Coalition to Prevent Lead Poisoning is a local
non-profit organization committed to ending childhood lead
poisoning in Monroe County by 2010. The group provides
leadership and advocacy to empower the community to prevent
the lead poisoning of children by creating an environment
that is free of lead hazards.
In addition to the obvious impact that the Coalition has
had in improving the health and safety of children and
families, it also strengthens neighborhoods through its
grass roots efforts to involve, inform and bring
neighborhood residents together to work on important issues.

Flower City Management
Flower City Management is a family-owned and operated
property management and development company. John Billone,
Jr. and the Billone family have taken on a number of
challenging projects that have had helped revitalize several
Rochester city neighborhoods. They always strive to get
input from the neighborhood and address those concerns in
planning their projects. Their cooperative approach ensures
that these projects are truly beneficial, both to the City
of Rochester and to the neighborhood in which they are
located.

Bob & Mary Stevenson

City Council member Robert Stevenson and his wife, Mary,
have shown outstanding dedication to the community and to
Neighborhood Housing Services of Rochester throughout the
years. They have a hands-on approach to making their
community a better place, whether it’s working side by side
with neighbors or serving at the highest levels of city
government.
They both taught for decades in the city School District.
Bob taught Science, while Mary taught English. Several
generations of their Northwest neighbors learned from Bob
and Mary, not just their classroom subjects, but also about
civility and community.
