Position Title: Neighborhood Outreach Assistant
Position Status: Part-Time, Non-exempt
Reports To: Healthy Blocks Coordinator
Work Hours: TBD (approximately 20 hrs per week)
Salary Range: $10.00 - $12.00 per hour
Direct Reports: None
Position Responsibilities
(include but are not limited to):
• Day-to-day aspects of program implementation and
report regularly to supervisor;
• Assist in the development and implementation of
marketing efforts in block clusters, including
marketing NeighborWorks® Rochester’s programs and
services to residents on the blocks;
• Organize, participate in and present at resident
meetings and neighborhood events, where appropriate;
• Integrate the Healthy Blocks Initiative into
NeighborWorks® Rochester’s other programs and
services;
• Assist in supporting partnerships critical to the
success of the initiative;
• Assist with resident leadership development as
appropriate;
• Become neighborhood resource for housing and
community information;
• Assist in the measurement of data with respect to
neighborhood and organizational outcomes related to
the new initiative; and
• Provide support as needed to the Healthy Blocks
Coordinator.
General
• Participation in NeighborWorks® Rochester staff
meetings, initiatives, and special projects; and
• Other tasks that may be required to fulfill the
objectives of the organization.
Experience and Qualifications
• Superior writing and communication skills for both
internal and external audiences;
• Ability to work flexible schedule with nights and
weekends required;
• Ability to handle multiple projects and meet
deadlines;
• Professional appearance and manner;
• Transportation necessary and valid drivers license
and insurance required; and
• Experience working with diverse populations is
important.
Characteristics and Temperament
Due to the critical nature of relationship building
and relationship maintenance that is instrumental to
the success of this position, considerable attention
will be given to the candidate’s character and
temperament. This is a demanding position that
requires the ability to handle multiple tasks and
also the ability to work effectively with many
different individuals and personalities. This person
should be outgoing, enjoy people, and enjoy being
out and engaged in the community. As a public
representative of NeighborWorks Rochester, this
person must be able to offer a satisfying and
rewarding experience to the external partners and
volunteers that will interact with him/her during
the course of their work. One must be
self-motivated, flexible, persistent, very attentive
to detail and able to be an organizer and
coordinator of many activities. He/she must have the
ability to remain persistent and motivated even in
the face of adversity or challenge.
Compensation: See above range - commensurate with
experience.
